Tesco chief executive Ken Murphy is laughing all the way to the bank as he was paid $4.74 million last year. He was awarded £3.2 million in bonuses as Tesco profits soared as the COVID lock down measures ended.
Tesco pre-tax profits were a staggering £2.03bn, an increase of £636 million from 2020.
Murphy’s payout is 224 times the total wages and benefits of the average worker at Tesco the ones who actually do all the work that gets the supermarket giant its profits.
This is whilst Tesco customers are facing huge increases in prices for basic food stuffs and other essential goods. Shameful.
